A Propos

… Salut, Hola, Kon’nichiwa, Hi !

My name is David BARON - in upper case I don’t know why I am doing that, but habits die hard ! - and I was born in 1976.

The short story

I am a g33k since 1988 when I got my first computer - an ATARI 520 STF and GFA BASIC 2.0 with it … And since then, I never really stopped to love computer and made it my job. Here are my stories, thoughts and “coups de gueule” - rants in english !

Thanks for reading, I hope you will enjoy ( or not ! ) this blog.

TL;DR

I am from France, nobody is perfect !
I was living from May 2016 to June 2018 in Mexico City and moved recently in Asia, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam in a first time and Tokyo in Japan as soon as I will have my working visa.
I am fond of *nix operating systems and C language. More generally, I love details on how systems work.
I live with it but I am a random guy but with a good computer knowledge and culture, curious, sometime fun and also opened to give my opinion even if it’s not politically correct. I hate routine and people with an high opinion of themselves - humility is for me not a nice-to-have but it’s must-have because like we say in french On est toujours le con d’un autre.

So … My first contact with computers was in 1988 when my parents bought me an ATARI 520 STF with also the wonderful - Pascal/Basic alike - language GFA BASIC 2.0. I never really played to game a lot but I coded often !
I was graduated in 2000 with a master degree in Computer Sciences from Université Jussieu Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris VII.
After that, I worked for different companies in different fields. From start-up like Webraska in 2000 to recently the press group Schibsted - in their classified ads branch - my jobs were mainly on the back-end part.
Nowadays, I’d like to continue on system administration in Cloud with also devops in mind and database with the amazing PostgreSQL RDBM I learned - and continue to learn - with Dimitri Fontaine when we were working at Leboncoin.fr.
I recently joined a cool company based in HCMC, Tokyo, Singapore named Quoine. The pronunciation is ko-oine … far from the french one I used to use previously :) I am still a Devops but also PostgreSQL DBA. I hope to help them a lot, the project looks cool and amazing … and I will live in Japan <3 !

As I mentioned, I am not a genius at all, so you can find stuff here random, stupid, outdated … so please do not hesitate to share you opinion about how I can improve myself.I am not the more open-minded guy in the world but also I am not so much stubborn so any piece of advice or critics are more than welcome :)
